components for a mixed fleet of vehicles, buses and various heavy and light duty equipment with diverse ages and operating under diverse conditions. It is the intent of the School Board to purchase lubricants having the least adverse environmental impact, within the constraints of statutory purchasing requirements, departmental need, availability and sound economic considerations. Suggested changes and environmental enhancements for possible inclusion in future revisions of this specification are encouraged. Petroleum based lubricants furnished under this specification shall be American Petroleum Institute (API) certified and labeled as such, shall conform in quality to the accepted standards of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) as denoted in product specifications. All items shall be new, not recycled and shall meet or exceed specification and requirements below: 15-W-40 Motor Oil Castrol Hypuron S, or equivalent, Oil must be synthetic blend multi-grade, SAE 15SW40, and must meet or exceed API CJ-4, CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF and SM. Must have low Ash content and Total Base Number (TBN). Must be Navistar International approved or meets API CK-4 designation. 0-W-20 Motor Oil Castrol, Synthetic Blend, or equivalent. 5-W-20 Motor Oil Castrol, Synthetic Blend, or equivalent. 5-W-30 Motor Oil Castrol, Synthetic Blend, or equivalent. Transmission Fluid Synthetic Emgard 2805 ATF or equivalent, substitution must be approved by the School Board’s Transportation Department prior to bid award. Approved written warranty verifications from Allison Transmission must accompany any bid for substitute products. Also, must have TES 295 approval number. Gear Lubricant/Oil Must be multi-purpose, designed to satisfactorily lubricate heavy-duty equipment under maximum torque, load and speed conditions, which meets requirements of API GL 85-W-140, MIL-PRF-2105E. Chassis Lubricant Must meet National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI) Grade 2, Extreme Pressure, Lithium Complex. Wheel Bearing Grease Lithium/12 separate, Extreme Pressure, NGLI #2 or 3, Flash Point COC 450 ̊F, Fire point COC 490 ̊F. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) The urea content of DEF solution must be 32.5 percent ± 1.5 percent by weight. It must meet the International Standard ISO 22241-1 for diesel engines. There is no acceptable substitute. Diesel Engine Coolant/Antifreeze Extended life (600,000 miles/12,000 hours), 50/50 pre-mixed, meets all requirements of Cat-EC1, ASTM D 3306, ASTM D 4656, Virgin ethylene glycol, Nitrite free, Organic based, Red in color, Final Charge or equivalent. Must meet the universal ASTM D6210 standard and OAT corrosion protection. 1.05 DRUM/CONTAINERS Product will be delivered in multiple packaging formats: • Bulk Delivery (from truck to storage tank/container) • 250/275-gallon bulk tote • 55-gallon drum • 1-gallon/1-quart containers. Each Oil/Package Container delivered shall be plainly marked showing the product name and API classification. All products delivered in drum/containers which have not been properly cleaned inside and out, as determined by District personnel, must be picked up and replaced by the vendor with a clean drum/container, within two (2) working days of the School Boards request, at the vendors’ expense. Bidders will maintain existing dispensing and storage equipment with all associated piping and fixtures as required. The School Board will not pay any deposits for drums/containers. All containers shall be clearly marked and identifiable with vendor’s name and contents. The drums/containers remain the responsibility of the awarded bidder. The vendor shall be responsible to pick up all empty drums/containers and either recycle them or properly dispose of them. Containers must be picked up by the vendor within five (5) working days of the District Representive’s request. The vendor shall coordinate with the appropriate department to establish a schedule for pick-up of empty drums. All transporting of containers is the sole responsibility of the vendor. 1.06 TOTE REQUIREMENTS Totes are to be made of Polyethylene with molded gallon/liter markings and are to be in compliant with UN31HA1 regulations. The 275-gallon tote is to be surrounded by a tubular steel cage. Totes, with less than the bid specified amounts, when delivered, will be refused and is the responsibility of the awarded bidder to re-deliver a tote that meets specifications within 24-hour at no additional cost to the School Board.
