The desired vendor will have experience implementing Microsoft Power BI for a public sector agency, with utility experience being preferable.BackgroundThe City of Pasadena is an ethnically diverse community home to approximately 141,029 people. Pasadena is the ninth-largest city in Los Angeles County. It is one of the primary cultural centers of the San Gabriel Valley. The City covers approximately 22.5 square miles, with an average of ten residents per acre. The median age of its residents is approximately 36.9 years. There are over 100,000 jobs in various industries in the City of Pasadena. The City provides the full range of
municipal services, including, among others, police and fire protection, library services, street maintenance, and parks and recreation. The City also provides sewer and solid waste services to the City of Pasadena's residents and businesses. In addition, the City owns and operates a municipal electric public utility and a municipal water public utility. Pasadena Water and Power ("PWP"), a department of the City, provides water and electric services to all customers within the limits and some outside. PWP business intelligence and reporting have developed organically. Several different systems serve as the system of record for a variety of various information sources. Systems:ERP: Tyler Munis Utility Billing: Oracle Customer to Meter ("C2M") Field Services: Oracle Field Service ("OFS") Database Platform: PWP has systems hosted on Oracle 19c and Microsoft SQL Server 2017 SE. ETL System: PWP currently uses different methods to perform extract-transform-load work between its data systems. PWP primarily utilizes Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services ("SSIS"), but custom applications and some scripted extracts. Data Warehouse Platform: PWP has a data warehouse running on Oracle 19c. Data Visualization and Reporting: Pasadena does not currently have a standardized data visualization platform. Platforms currently in wide use in the City are:Excel – Office365SQL Server Reporting Services – Versions 2019Authentication: Pasadena uses Microsoft Active Directory for authentication for all staff.
