Durham Public Schools Brogden Middle School – Boiler Replacement DPS Project No. 306-05 Advertisement for Bids 00 01 10-1 ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Durham Public Schools / Durham County RFP: 179-2122-620-BM-BOILER Sealed bids from licensed contractors will be received by Durham Public Schools, Durham, North Carolina on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, for furnishing of labor, material, and equipment for the DPS Project No. 306-05, Brogden Middle School - Boiler Replacement, 1001 Leon Street, Durham, NC 27704. Bids will be received up to 2:00 PM from Single Prime bidders at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Deliver bids to the Durham Public Schools Construction and Capital Planning Office located at 2011 Hamlin Road, Durham, North Carolina 27704.  No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days.  Bid security required is 5% of the bid in cash, certified check, or Bid Bond.  Performance and

Payment Bonds for 100% of the contract amount will be required.  Durham Public Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities or irregularities. Minority Business Participation: Bidders shall note that compliance with County of Durham MBE policies and the North Carolina Statute 143-128.2 (c) are required for this project. Iran Divestment Act: Bidders shall note that the submission of a bid constitutes the bidder’s certification to the State Treasurer that, as of the date of bid, it is not listed on the Final Divestment List created and maintained by the North Carolina Department of State Treasurer (the “Treasurer’s Office”) pursuant to the Iran Divestment Act of 2015, Chapter 147-Article 6E of the General Statutes of North Carolina (the “Iran Divestment Act”). Project scope: Remove two existing boilers, two boiler pumps, boiler vent pipes, and associated accessories. Remove domestic water heater vent pipe. Provide and install two new gas-fired condensing boilers, two boiler pumps, and associated piping, vents, insulation, and accessories. Provide new vent pipe for the existing gas-fired domestic water heater. Make safe and disconnect associated mechanical equipment circuits. Remove boiler circuits. Remove and replace 2-section original panelboard with new single section panelboard. Extend and reconnect panelboard feeder. Extend and reconnect existing pump circuits. Provide new boiler circuits. Pre-Bid Conference: A pre-bid conference for BIDDERS will be held [Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 10:00 AM] at Brogden Middle School. The project Designer or Designer’s representative will be available to answer questions. It is MANDATORY that prime bidders attend the entire Pre-Bid Conference. An open public meeting will be held in conjunction with the pre-bid conference to identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards pertinent to this project. In accordance with GS133-3, Section 64. (C) and Durham public School System procedures the following preferred brand items are being considered as Alternates by the owner for this project: A. Owner Preferred Alternate OP-M1: Provide two Model FBN4001 boilers manufactured by Lochinvar. B. Owner Preferred Alternate OP-M2: Provide two Model AR 4000 boilers manufactured by Riello. Include changes to the electrical circuits feeding these which require 208-230V/3 phase/60Hz power.
