Applicant firms will be selected based on their professional qualifications and successful experience with similar programming and/or full-service engagements, and must demonstrate considerable similar experience based upon the following criteria: Experience designing facilities using similar building types with emphasis placed on experience with dormitories. The successful firm will be selected based upon documented qualifications of their proposed project team and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with Auburn University as determined during the interview. This procurement will retain the Architect to provide complete architectural services and appropriate planning documents to support this area's proposed development. Applicants should acknowledge that this procurement is based on the following parameters: The total project budget is anticipated to be $4.5 M. Owner-Architect Agreement forms published by the Alabama Department of Finance’s Division of Construction Management
(DCM) and the Alabama state fee schedule will be utilized per DCM’s Manual of Procedures. QUALIFICATIONS ABOUT OUR PROJECT Solon Dixon Dormitory Replacement AU Project Number: 23-168 The Solon Dixon Forestry Education Center, located in Andalusia, Alabama, functions as a living laboratory for hands-on, experiential learning for students, practitioners and landowners to explore its diverse ecosystems and learn best practices from leaders in their field. Visitors to the facility primarily visit for multiple days and are housed in the existing dormitories at the center. This project proposes to replace two of the original dormitories that were constructed in 1979. The two existing dorms together contain 57 beds and 7,000 square feet in large bunk-style communal rooms. The anticipated program for this project includes modern accommodations and accessory spaces supporting 60 beds with consideration to expand to 80 beds based on the available budget. Compliance with Auburn University Design & Construction Standards Minimum Code of Alabama Requirements (current Code of Alabama available http://alisondb.legislature.state.al.us/alison/codeofalabama/1975/coatoc.htm): §41-4-133 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, Auburn University requests qualifications from qualified design professionals to provide architectural and engineering services for the renovation of the Solon Dixon Dormitory Replacement (AU Project Number 23-168) in Auburn, Alabama. §41-16-82 of the Code of Alabama requires a disclosure statement to be completed and filed with all qualifications, proposals, bids, contracts, or grant proposals submitted to the State of Alabama in excess of $5,000.00. §31-13-1, et seq. of the Code of Alabama (Alabama Immigration Law) imposes conditions on the award of state contracts. Firms must agree to fully comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, as amended by the Immigration Act of 1990, and the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act.
