ADVERTISEMENT FOR EXECUTIVE ARCHITECT

UCLA requests a written response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a sports-focused Executive Architect for the proposed Easton Stadium Pre-Design Study Phase.  Easton Stadium is located on the northwest corner of Sunset Boulevard and Bellagio Road.  The stadium opened in 1994 and has a seating capacity of 1200.  The proposed project will consider existing site layout and facilities while developing a master plan that can enhance the program's position relative to the student-athlete experience and recruiting, continuing to meet NCAA guidelines.  Efforts in this regard might include improvement/expansion to existing facilities on-site and construction of new facilities.

Depending on funding availability and other operational issues, the work may be executed in several incremental projects and phases.  Construction costs for the project have not yet been determined and depend on the study results and phasing.

The project will be designed to meet the University of California Regent's Policy on Sustainable Practices requirements and intent.  The project is subject to review and approval by the UC Board of Regents or their delegated authority, as well as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

This RFQ is for the initial Pre-Design Study Phase.  However, the University will select an Executive Architect based upon its ability to execute both the study phase and full design services should the project continue.  The University reserves the right to defer negotiations concerning services other than the pre-design study until completion of the phase.  The final selection and appointment of the Executive Architect for the pre-design study phase is contingent upon approval by the University of California Office of the President.

The complete RFQ packet will be available at http://www.capitalprograms.ucla.edu/Contracts/RFQProjects on Wednesday, January 5, 2020; responses to the RFQ are due by or before 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.  A screening committee will determine a shortlist of firms; further steps in the selection process will be at the selection committee's discretion.

Every effort will be made to ensure that all persons have equal access to contracts and other business opportunities with the University within limits imposed by law or University policy.  Each Candidate Firm may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy.
