Public Comment Period for Revised Publication "Preventive Maintenance and Facility Management Handbook"

DEED Preventive Maintenance and Facilities Management Handbook
Public Comment and Crowd-SourcingThe Department of Education and Early Development has a draft to the
Preventive Maintenance and Facility Management Handbook under development
.  The publication will provide guidance regarding school district preventive maintenance programs required by statute. The department is seeking both public comment on the material currently presented, and is soliciting assistance of additional content development in the following areas:
Alaskan Examples and Lessons Learned for initial commissioning and retro-commissioning
Sustaining a Maintenance Management program by proper budgeting and staffing, performance metrics, software upgrades, and evaluations/inspections
Sustaining an Energy Management Program by identifying common pitfalls and identifying solutions for integration
Implementing and Sustaining a Custodial Program (key areas are outlined)
Implementing and

Sustaining a Capital Planning Program
Additional Considerations sections:

Managing contracted staff
Evaluating your maintenance program
Environmental safety
Portable devices in the maintenance workflow
Electronic O&M manuals
Appendix C – Facility funding formulas
Appendix F – Bibliography of maintenance publications
Appendix G – Standard for a clean classroom (now post-Covid-19?)Your input on the topics and categories listed will be used to provide final guidance, recommendations, and examples to the K-12 School Facilities peer group in Alaska’s school districts.The revised draft publication is an attachment to this notice.
