Hippach Field Fence Replacement Bid - Town of Farmington Parks and Recreation Department Start Date: March 27, 2024 End Date: April 17, 2024 Type: Requests for Proposals (RFP) Phone: 207-778-3464 Email: mfoster@farmington-maine.org More Information: Click Here The Town of Farmington is accepting bids for the replacement of the white fence sections along the front of Hippach Field. Sealed bids, which must be clearly marked “Parks and Recreation Hippach Fence Replacement Bid”, must be received at the Town Office, 153 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington, ME 04938, no later than 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 17th. Bids will be opened and read aloud publicly in the Municipal Building Conference Room, and tentative bid award will be made at that time. Formal bid award will be made by the Board of Selectmen on Tuesday, April 23rd. Before submitting a proposal, all bidders are advised to carefully examine the specifications and
fully inform themselves as to the existing conditions and limitations under which the work will be performed. Failure to do so will not release a successful bidder from the contract documents and/or from completing the contemplated work for the consideration set forth in the bid. Bidders may be required to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Town that they have adequate personnel, equipment and experience to perform the services required by the specifications and shall furnish such information to the Town promptly upon request. The successful bidder will be required to provide a certificate of insurance before the contract will be signed. Workers’ Compensation and General Liability insurance shall be maintained throughout the term of the contract and shall be written with a qualified insurance carrier having an A.M. Best B+ rating or better for the past year. The amount of general liability insurance shall be not less than $400,000 each occurrence and not less than $1,000,000 aggregate. By acceptance of the contract, the successful bidder will agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Town, its agents, officers and employees from any and all claims, losses, liabilities or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising as a result of the contractor, its employees and agents performing services under the contract, including but not limited to specifically any claim, loss, liability or expense which may arise as a result of death or personal injury to the contractor or any person engaged by the contractor who is not fully compensated by workers’ compensation insurance carried by the contractor. The Town of Farmington reserves the right to accept and/or reject any and all bids and to waive any of the bidding formalities as may be deemed to be in the best interest of the Town. Specification Sheet/Bid Form Farmington Parks and Recreation Department Hippach Field Fence Replacement Bid Minimum Specifications: State the contractor’s warranty (years) Provide temporary fencing/barrier while fence sections are removed and being rebuilt Replace all white sections of fence in between brick pillars with double width, two face, wall tied, brick wall (25 courses high) anchored into existing brick pillars as one continuous wall 2”x12” granite caps on entire wall sections Remove and rebuild 1 large brick pillar (similar to existing pillar closest to the intersection) 48 courses of brick with 2” granite cap and ball placed back on top from previous pillar that was removed Brick must be water struck to match existing brickwork Type S mortar must be used Brickwork must be washed down with EaCo Chem NMD 80 Cleaner afterwards Clean and secure the work area at the end of each day (public park) All new and old brickwork must be sealed with Enrich’N’Seal after work is completed Propper precautions must be followed for working near busy roadway Original wood and metal structures between brick pillars will be removed by the town before work begins Dig and install a 12” wide footer (min) by 6” thick (min) below the frost line ( 5’ deep) and a 4’ high by 8” wide concrete frost wall with rebar resting on the footer and meeting MUBEC standards All concrete will be 3000 psi for “severe weathering” The work can be broken up into two sections, the first section being from the parking lot to the fieldhouse (by the pool) and the second section being from the baseball grandstand to the Route 2 intersection. The Pool section will either need to be completed before June 14th, 2024 or after August 18th and work should be completed during the day before 4 p.m. to prepare site for evening baseball activities. The Entire Project should be completed by October 11th, 2024. The Town is Including the option to bid on each task individually or on the project as a whole. The Town may choose to award the contract to multiple bidders or to a single bidder at its sole discretion based on the responses received.
