Account SpecialistMilwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District$26.22 - $30.84EXCELLENT benefits package!Link to ApplyThe Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (District) is a regional government agency that provides water reclamation and flood management services for about 1.1 million people in 28 communities in the greater Milwaukee area.  The District's mission protects public health and the environment through world-class, cost-effective water resource management, leadership, and partnership.    The District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Account Specialist in the Finance Division.  Reporting to the Supervisor of Revenue and Fixed Assets, the Account Specialist will review, post, and verify primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records, classifying information, and determining proper account code distribution.  This position will be performing general accounting duties to include accounts payable and receivable and user charges, in accordance
with District policies and procedures.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Post and verify vendor invoices for payment.  Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.  Assist in resolving disputed invoices within terms and taking advantage of discounts.Prepare travel and expense reports for payment, including registrations, hotel reservations, travel advances, and reimbursements.  Ensure authorized travel arrangement payments are paid accurately and in a timely manner.Prepare invoices for user charges, tax levies, Milorganite®, grant and loan payment requests, and miscellaneous receivables.  Ensure customers are invoiced accurately in a timely manner.Prepare daily bank deposits and post receipts to the cash journal and accounts receivable subsidiary ledger, ensuring the accurate posting of cash receipts to the appropriate ledgers and accounts.  Summarize and prepare assigned reports.Compile various information and accounting transactions into a report format to summarize accounting activities.Assist in the collection of past due accounts receivables, performing collection calls to various distributors and open accounts, and obtain payments while maintaining positive customer relationships.Act as a technical resource to other specialists to address and resolve inquiries and problems. Assist with orienting and training other specialists.Ensure the completion of all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.Complete special projects as assigned.
