The City of Palm Desert (“ City”) is requesting proposals from qualified firms (“Proposers”) for Historic Context Statement and City-Wide Historic Resources Survey (“Services”) to establish a Professional Services ("Agreement").To serve and promote the welfare of its residents, the City intends to procure the Services, as described below.The City of Palm Desert had informally identified potentially historic sites as a part of a 2007 “History and Tour of Palm Desert Historical Sites” which identified 50 properties containing structures with potential historical significance. The survey should evaluate these potential structures, and other potentially historic properties which are 45 years of age or more since their recorded construction date. Cultural Resources in the City of Palm Desert is governed by Title 29 Cultural Resources of the Palm Desert Municipal Code. Title 29 provides the framework for the Cultural Resources Preservation Committee, Landmark Designations, and Preservation
Incentives. The City currently participates in Mills Act contracts as a part of its Cultural Resources program. The City currently does not have a formal survey of potentially historic sites within the City and is not classified as a Certified Local Government (CLG).
