The George Washington and Jefferson National Forest, Warm Springs Ranger District is soliciting proposals from interested parties for a Bolar Flat Marina and Day Use Campground Concession Special Use Permit (SUP) to provide high-quality public service in the operation and maintenance of government-owned recreation facilities. The new SUP will only operate the Marina while the Forest Service operates the surrounding recreation areas which were previously under permit. The term length will be for up to 5 years, with an option to extend up to 5 additional years.
The George Washington and Jefferson National Forests anticipates choosing a successful applicant in the May of 2021, with the intention of operations beginning shortly after the permit is awarded in the 2021 recreation season.
The Bolar Flat Marina and Day Use is located on the Warm Spring Ranger District located in Bath County, Virginia. The Marina sits on the northern end of Lake Moomaw which is the second largest in
western Virginia. There are 43 miles of undeveloped, wooded shoreline. The permit will include the following developed sites:
Bolar Flat Marina and Day Use Areas

Day Use Area
Group Picnic Shelter
Marina Store
Maintenance Shed
Boat Dock with wet storage
Dry RV and Boat Storage
3 courtesy docks
All written applications, including payment for the processing fees must be received by the Forest no later than 4:30 p.m. pacific time on April 30, 2021.
