Federal Business Opportunities (FBO)SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE1. Solicitation Number: NIHDA2018004322. Title: Automated Cell Culture System3. Classification Code: 664. NAICS Code: 4234905. Description:This is a Sources Sought notice. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research
and information purposes only. Background: The Stem Cell Translations Laboratory (SCTL) and the 3D BioPrinting Lab within the Division of PreClinical Innovation (DPI) of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) seek to purchase a Sartorius CompacT SelecT Cell Culture System. These labs are in need of a complex automated cell culture system that will consolidate stem cell assay development, assay miniaturization applicability and adaptation to evaluate qHTS feasibility, and validation of promising new assay technologies that had previously been done piecewise by different project teams who divided project workflow between data production and these experimental evaluations. The Stem Cell group will unburden separate project teams from these tasks, while maintaining full system compatibility with the automated robotic qHTS facility, such that validated assay methods and promising assay technologies can be immediately implemented in large scale drug discovery campaigns with confidence that protocols and methods work in the high-density formats and apparatus used by the qHTS facility. This request is required for these Laboratories as part of the overall mission to develop and deploy new technology and assays for the screening of disease targets using stem cells. Given the nature of the work with a vast amount of different stem cell lines, the Stem Cell group requires some automated device that can assist in the production and maintenance of stem cell lines on an industrial scale. The TAP CompacT Cellbase System was designed to fulfill exactly that purpose.Purpose and Objectives: The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of Preclinical Innovation (DPI) requires one Automated Cell Culture System on a brand name or equal basis. This equipment shall be used to support novel assay development and validation screening. The SelecT automated cell culture system was developed >5 years ago, has over 40 installations world-wide, and has proven to be able to enable the production of multiple cell-lines and assay-ready plates. The SelecT system can maintain and expand adherent cells in T-175 flasks ensuring that there is no cross contamination even when many cell lines (up to 182) are cultured in parallel; the instrument can be programmed to do media exchanges and so that cells can be harvested, counted and seeded without operator intervention to help optimize screening productivity. It has the capability of plating cells in into 96, 384 and 1536-well plates, or just harvest cells for ready use. Furthermore, the instrument has the capability to measure growth rates so that it can be programmed to harvest cells at previously specified cell confluency. The instrument is also compatible with 10- layer HYPERflasks to increase cell production.Project requirements: Specifically, the NCATS DPI requires the following, or its equal:1. One (1) TAP Biosystems CompacT SelecT APM2.
