P25 Radio Communications System

The City of Northampton, Massachusetts is requesting proposals for a new 700/800 MHz P25 Phase 2 Trunked radio system to replace its legacy conventional VHF analog two-way radio system. The City requires a single contractor to provide a modern trunked radio system, including a connectivity network and subscribers necessary to support the radio system.    Northampton has a land area of 35.8 sq. mi located in Western Massachusetts. The population of Northampton is estimated 28,450. The City’s existing radio equipment serves approximately 400 public safety and public service users in Northampton. The City’s existing equipment is at end-of-life and no longer provides sufficient coverage or capacity to meet the City’s needs.    The new Northampton Communications System will operate a P25 Phase 2 (TDMA) system using 700 MHz or 800 MHz frequencies for voice and data within the City limits. The successful PROPOSER shall design and install fixed equipment that must be maintainable for at least 15 years after Final System Acceptance.  The City of Northampton will weigh the relative merits of proposals submitted by competing offerors and contract award will be made to the offeror submitting the most advantageous proposal, taking into consideration the proposals’ relative merits and
