Overview The purpose of this RFI is to gather information for a possible future request to proposal (RFP). The current need is to gain product information for the following: Minnesota State is in the process of identifying the scope and cost structure for tools to support and expertise to build an enrollment data dashboard utilizing the Microsoft Office platform. Minnesota State is gathering information from suppliers who can deliver to model out predictive analytics leveraging both data already within our current Student Information System (unique to Minnesota State) and PowerBI as well as other state- wide and available data such as participation in the job market, high school graduation rates, etc. Additionally, explore leveraging other data sets that exist within other technologies that are used by our campuses regarding student behavior. Leveraging new Microsoft tools, like Microsoft Co-Pilot for Power BI and Power BI, this project will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to assist with our data analytics. Finally, this project is designed to answer “what if” scenarios. This project is focused on the credit-bearing, academic programs, not continuing education or non-credit programs. Technical/Functional Requirements Some examples of how we envision this functionality helping a campus leader through the technologies analysis of the data in the system, course-taking patterns, registration participation, etc.: Predictive Analytics: • Based on the current data, applications, market analysis – what do we anticipate our enrollment will be in a specific semester. • Based on the current data, applications, market analysis – what do we anticipate our enrollment make-up to be. By major. Student type. Credit intensity. Prescriptive Analytics: • Based on the enrollment predictions, identifying to inform how many additional or fewer sections of a class (Composition 1) would be needed. • Based on the current student dataset, identifying where they may want to be thinking about scaling up or down staff support in an advising or tutoring center. • Based on enrollment predictions, what housing mix should the campus plan for the coming year. • Based on past patterns, identifying what times, days, and modalities courses should be offered. • Based on past patterns, identifying what courses within an academic program are the unintended “off- ramp” courses – meaning students stop progressing after taking these classes. • Based on past patterns, identifying which course pairing students have more success with. • Based on past patterns, identifying ways to increase credit intensity of students. Deductive Analytics: • If we change the pre-requisite requirements on a course, what will enrollment look like. • If we have a new scholarship program, what will enrollment look like.
