Activities:    
The Kensington Gold Mine project is an underground mine. It currently consists of underground workings, a mill for processing, a tailings
impoundment, water treatment plants, waste rock storage areas, and support facilities. The gold concentrate is produced at the mill, packed in containers, and transported off-site for processing. The mill and mine operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
Location:     
The Kensington Gold Mine facilities are located approximately 45 miles North of Juneau, in southeast Alaska.
Tentative Determination
The DEC has tentatively determined to issue a permit to the above listed applicant.
Public Comments
Written comments on the proposed permit must be submitted within 32 days of the first publication of this public notice or no later than May 31, 2022. Please direct written comments to the attention of Sylvia Kreel at the address or email identified above or through the on-line comment portal https://water.alaskadec.commentinput.com/?id=59mdQ . All comments should include the name, address, and telephone number of the commenter and a concise statement of comment on the permit condition and the relevant facts upon which the comment is based. Comments of either support or concern which are directed at specific, cited permit requirements are appreciated. Comments must be received or postmarked on or before the expiration date of the public notice.
Any interested person may submit a written request for a public hearing. A request for a public hearing shall state the nature of the issues to be raised, as well as the requester's name, address and telephone number.
