The Samhill Estates Pond Retrofit and Stream Restoration project seeks to restore a degraded stream and retrofit an existing stormwater management pond within the Samhill Estates Community. This parcel is owned and maintained by the community Homeowners’ Association. The project will include approximately 625 linear feet of stream restoration as well as excavating and regrading the existing pond’s footprint to provide additional water quality volume. To provide better control of storm events, the existing CMP riser and barrel control structure will be replaced with a concrete weir wall structure. Proposed stream restoration practices will include bank stabilization, riparian reforestation, and in-stream grade control structures. This project is part of Frederick County’s Capital Improvement Project and will help meet the watershed restoration and impervious area reduction requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) MunicipalSeparate Storm Sewer System (MS4)
