Bid/RFP Status: Open - accepting bids and proposalsBid/RFP Due Date: Friday, April 26, 2024 - 12:00pmBack to Bids/RFPsThe City of Mequon is seeking qualified consultants to complete a pedestrian signal design for the Ozaukee Interurban Trail (OIT) crossing at Mequon Road, between Weston Drive and Cedarburg Road. Please note that this section of Mequon Road is designated as Connecting Highway. In 2023, the City initiated a corridor project which included the installation of a new traffic signal at Weston Drive and a modified crossing at the OIT. In the filing for the request to determine whether preemption for the traffic signal at Weston Drive would be required, the Office of the Commissioner of Railroads (OCR) issued the following condition in its final decision: The WisDOT, in consultation with the City of Mequon, shall determine the feasibility of installing Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons to prevent eastbound vehicles from stopping on the tracks and westbound vehicles from stopping on
the crosswalk and file its findings with the Office by February 15, 2024. A copy of the technical memorandum generated by WisDOT (Mead & Hunt) is available on the City’s website. As a result, OCR issued an amended order on April 3, 2024. Specifically, the order requires: The City of Mequon shall install and maintain pedestrian signals at the crossing of the Ozaukee Interurban Trail with Mequon Road (WIS 167) interconnected with the warning devices at the crossing of the WSOR tracks with Mequon Road in accordance with the City’s design plans by August 1, 2024.
