Oil Search Alaska, LLC Pikka Development Seawater Treatment Plant Private Exclusive EasementThe Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas (Division) received an application on June 23, 2020, from Oil Search Alaska, LLC (OSA) requesting an Alaska Statute (AS) 38.05.850 Easement for the Pikka Development Seawater Treatment Plant (STP). The STP would be located on state tidelands adjacent to Oliktok Point in Simpson Lagoon in the Kuparuk River Unit on the North Slope and is part of the Pikka Project (formerly the Nanushuk Project) (Project). The proposed STP and easement will be adjudicated under AS 38.05.850.  The Division is providing public notice and an opportunity to comment. Applicant: OSA (see original application for contact information)Project ID: ADL 421488 STPLocation: UM T013N R009E S5Project Description: The proposed STP easement will consist of 13 acres in the operations phase. The STP project will center around a submersible barge transported via
sealift to the North Slope. The STP will arrive fully functional and equipped with a seawater intake structure, filtration system, power generation, and a heating system. The STP barge will be positioned on the east side of Oliktok Point and ballasted down to rest on the ocean floor. Stabilization for the STP barge will be provided by gravel fills and sheet piles. The purpose of the project is to provide a reliable and predictable supply of make-up water of sufficient quantity and quality for improved hydrocarbon extraction efficiency from the Pikka Unit reservoirs.The application package is available for review at the Division’s Permitting Section, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 1100, Anchorage, AK 99501 or online at http://dog.dnr.alaska.gov/Home/Newsroom.
