Taylor Theater Infrastructure Renovation Advance Planning

One-Two Sentences UNC Greensboro is seeking letters of interest from qualified professionals for the project entitled, Taylor Theater Infrastructure Renovation'. The Taylor Building was opened in 1967. Many of the building systems are original to the building and have exceeded their useful life. There have been several partial and limited renovations over the years, however, the building needs a comprehensive rehabilitation in order to extend the life of the building as well as meet the University's programmatic need. The Taylor Theatre Infrastructure Renovation Project will update the building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems. The interior space will focus on ADA access and ADA restrooms renovations with some architectural upgrades. Alternates are anticipated to address concerns with the aging tension grid and supporting structure, performance rigging and associated machinery and replacing the fire curtain. Challenges may include a carefully planned phasing of sequences that accommodate occupancy during construction. Delegated authority has been granted to the university's Board of Trustees from the Board of Governors to proceed with Advance Planning. Full construction funding amount (estimated between $5M - $10.5M) will be determined before the onset of design. Capital request to be submitted to Board of Governors for approval after scope and budget have been clearly defined at the Schematic Design
