LAS 34303 SAM Alaska LLC Land Use Permit Application for Met Tower near Big Delta

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATIONLAS 34303 SAM Alaska LLCSubject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:APPLICANT: SAM Alaska LLC PROJECT NAME: LAS 34303GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Approximately 25 miles north of Big Delta LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Section 16 of Township 5 South, Range 8 East, Fairbanks MeridianREQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Division of Mining, Land, and Water (DMLW) has received a land use permit application from SAM Alaska LLC for a meteorological station site in support of a current mining project. The site would require clearing trees up to a 500 ft radius around the station. The applicant proposes to use a bulldozer, a loader, and an excavator to conduct the clearing. The meteorological station itself would include a 6 ft x 8 ft x 8 ft metal building, a 40 ft tower, and would require the use of four 120-gallon propane tanks. The site would be accessed either by helicopter or by the applicant’s existing mining

access road permitted under APMA F20209882. The application includes road maintenance work, however, this activity is not within the scope of this authorization.REQUESTED TERM: 5 years Start: November 1, 2022 End: September 30, 2027DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: September 27, 2022The public is invited to comment on this activity.
