The existing bridge is a single span steel beam bridge 31’-9” (+/-) long and 33’-1” (+/-) wide. The new bridge is a single span steel girder bridge, 40’-0” long and 43’-8 1⁄2” wide, with 40’-8” of clear roadway. The
proposed typical section includes two 12’-0” lanes and shoulder widths that vary between 8’-0” and 8’-8”. The proposed bridge will be founded on steel H-piles. The project also includes the reconstruction and paving of 1,055 feet of MD 5; construction of a new stormwater management facility; placement of traffic barriers, signing, and pavement markings; removal of the existing bridge; and final landscaping of the project site. A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on the bridge during construction using a system of temporary traffic signals.
