The Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC)/ CFSD is interested in better understanding the field of Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). Specifically, information is requested below on how to find unmarked/ uncharted underground utilities using various methods; the current technology for this work; and other uses of subsurface utility engineering. If your company is interested in helping AFCEC better understand this field, please provide a response to the questions below. You may also additionally provide your company's capability information, contact information, and any additional information you may think is relevant to our understanding. Please limit your response to 12 pages. (The more concise, the better.) In our basic research we were able to find a brochure for SUE from The Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration. Many of the following questions relate to this brochure so I have attached it here for reference. Questions:1- Please explain in detail the different ASCE quality levels of quality depiction and what is achieved at each level. (A, B, C, D)2- What type of technology is used for each level? Is this an industry standard or can there be differences between companies?3- What confidence factor is achieved at each level?4- Discuss other uses of SUE (such as identifying contaminants, soil composition, etc.)5- A rough estimate or range of cost for each level rounded to the nearest thousand or ten thousand. 6- Are there some sub-surface structures that cannot be detected? If so, what? Is there a size threshold for detection? Are there soil/surface conditions that prevent detection?7- Is there another industry standard or process for utility detection that we should be aware of?8- Any other information that is important to subsurface utility
