20th and Welton Highblock Replacement (20% SBE Goal)

RTD would like Contractor to perform demolition and replacement of the 20th & Welton Highblocks. Address and specific location information is provided in the Plans/Specifications.BackgroundThe scope of this project is more specifically described within the Contract Documents, but can be generalized by the following summary of activities:Base Contract: 1. Demolition of existing highblocks – Complete demolition and removal of the existing concrete highblocks and partial foundation removal on the Northbound and Southbound platforms. 2. Rehabilitation of Existing Canopy Columns – Partial demolition and rehabilitation of existing canopy column and concrete encasement. Replacement of four 3” diameter steel pipe columns and concrete encasement at both the Northbound and Southbound platforms. 3. Concrete Slab Construction – Casting of concrete foundations for new highblocks on the Northbound and Southbound platforms with subgrade preparation and grounding for stray current. 4. Steel

Highblocks – Installation of highblocks composed of structural steel framing with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) decking. 5. Handrail Installation – Steel handrails to be installed on both the Northbound and Southbound platforms. 6. Painting – All structural steel framing and handrails to be coated in a high-performance industrial coating for corrosion resistance. Incidental Work included in this Contract includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Required schedules and meetings. 2. Shoring Plans for canopies to be in place during the work, signed and stamped by a Colorado P.E. 3. Traffic and Pedestrian Control Plans. 4. Quality Control Plan. 5. Safety Plan. 6. Work Plan. 7. Materials testing. 8.
