Avance III Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer

The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) intends to issue an award on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)) to Bruker AXS, Inc. 5465 E Cheryl Parkway, Madison, WI 53711-5373, for annual maintenance of the Avance III Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (Serial No. BH084208) manufactured by Bruker AXS, Inc. This system is used to characterize the structure of materials and to provide information on chemical composition and mineral structures. These systems are used on a daily basis and support ongoing work in GSL, EL, for both direct, and reimbursable projects. The operability of these systems needs to be guaranteed in order to support ongoing ERDC research. Services should be provided in the form of periodic maintenance site visits and emergency site visits for maintenance if the equipment has failed.Bruker AXS, Inc. is the only company that can meet the required maintenance service contract needs. Bruker AXS, Inc. is the only

manufacturer of the Avance III Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer (Serial No. BH084208) and is familiar with the maintenance needs and potential replacement parts should the system fail. Bruker AXS, Inc. uses proprietary parts in the equipment they manufacture.The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 811219 with a $20.5 million Small Business Size Standard. The Government intends to procure from only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) using simplified acquisition procedures. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available.
