The objective of the projects is to increase storage capacity in the distribution system, through the design and commissioning of transmission mains, associated elevated storage reservoirs, and associated piping and accessories, thereby improving reliability and level of service for existing and future customers. The transmission mains and associated elevated reservoirs will help ensure adequate pressures are maintained in the system, while also adding surge protection and improving pumping efficiency. Conceptually, the Southwest Parkway Elevated Reservoir project consists of approximately 10,300 LF of 24-inch transmission main that extends along Southwest Parkway, Old Bee Caves Road, and Travis Cook Road and a 2-million-gallon elevated reservoir, located at Southwest Parkway near Amarra Lane. Additionally, the South I-35 Elevated Reservoir project is planned as a 3-million-gallon elevated reservoir, located along the South I-35 Southbound Service Road, with foundational piping for a future pump station tie-in.
