Project: Adult Protective Services Quality Assurance and Training Project Ref. #: HSS-22-031 Type: RFP Status: Open Open Date: Apr 11th 2022, 8:00 AM EDT Questions Due Date: Apr 26th 2022, 11:30 PM EDT Close Date: Jun 9th 2022, 11:00 AM EDT Days Left: 2 Project Description:The Division of Services for Aging and Adults with Physical Disabilities (DSAAPD) is an agency within the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services tasked with improving or maintaining the quality of life for Delawareans who are at least 18 years of age with physical disabilities or who are aged 60 and older. DSAAPD operates the Adult Protective Services (APS) program. APS was established on July 1, 1982, through codification, 31 Del. Code §3901-3913. The General Assembly recognized that many adult citizens of this State are subject to psychological or physical injury or exploitation because of physical or mental disability, impairment, illness or condition or other causes which render them incapable of
providing for their basic daily living needs. Therefore, through legislation, the State established a system of services for impaired adults designed to protect their health, safety, and welfare. The intent was to authorize only the least possible restrictions on the exercise of personal and civil rights and such restrictions are permitted only when consistent with proven need for services. The enabling legislation placed APS within the Department of Health and Social Services. The mission of APS is to promote dignity, respect, and inclusion for older adults and people with disabilities by ensuring their safety and wellbeing with the ultimate vision of building strong support for Delaware's most vulnerable adults.
