Description

Scope of Services
The County of Santa Barbara Public Works Department, Resource Recovery & Waste
Management Division (RRWMD), is seeking proposals from qualified hazardous waste
management firms to collect, treat, store, transport, and properly dispose of Household
Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG)
wastes for the County of Santa Barbara’s:
• Community Hazardous Waste Collection Center (CHWCC), and
• Temporary one-day annual HHW collection event held at the New Cuyama Transfer
Station (NCTS) and two one-day annual HHW collection events held at the Santa
Ynez Valley Recycling & Transfer Station (SYVRTS).
Based on the results of this solicitation, the County of Santa Barbara (County) may choose to
use more than one hazardous waste management firm to serve its needs. The base contract
will be for three (3) years, beginning on July 1, 2022, and extending through June 30, 2025.
The contract will also include renewal provisions for one (1) two-year extension, at the sole
discretion of the County of Santa Barbara. Interested firms are invited to submit proposals for
the work in accordance with the requirements outlined below.

Other Details
Servicing the CHWCC - The services required at this facility include but are not limited to: categorizing, loading, treating, storing, preparing and providing transportation, transporting, recycling, and
disposing of the materials collected.
Equipment and supplies - The CHWCC requires packing and handling supplies.
Temporary collection events - Contractor is responsible for providing services for three one-day collection events. These events are scheduled on Sundays in spring and fall at the SYVRTS and on Saturdays in the fall at the NCTS.
