PART III: SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION 1. Provide a more detailed description and explain the need for the goods, services or grant to supplement the response in Part I. The devices purchased herein will be deployed onto pelagic fishes in the Gulf of Maine. These transmitters will work in tandem with existing monitoring equipment to monitor the movement and habitat use of important pelagic species, particularly in regard to potential draft wind energy areas. 2. Provide a brief justification for the selected vendor to supplement the response in Part II. Reference the RFP number, if applicable. Innovasea produces premium-quality equipment that is used in marine species biomonitoring around the world. Their transmitters are configured to work alongside Innovasea acoustic receivers, which are deployed throughout the region and greater Atlantic. This combination of equipment will enable our team to track the movement patterns of tagged animals. 3. Explain how the negotiated costs or rates are fair and reasonable; or how the funding was allocated to grantee. The associated costs are based on the quoted amount for one type of acoustic transmitter. 4. Describe the plan for future competition for the goods or services. Until a similar monitoring system is produced by another company and is more effective, Innovasea is the main provider for this type of transmitter equipment.
