Opportunity Information Title Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP) / Feb - Local Pass Through (Direct) Description On June 25, 2022, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 into law to reduce gun violence and save lives, and to make progress toward keeping guns out of dangerous hands. In signing the bill into law, the President noted that this historic act “invests in antiviolence programs that work — that work directly with the people who are most likely to commit these crimes or become victims of gun crimes.” The Montana Board of Crime Control (MBCC) is soliciting proposals for the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (Byrne SCIP) – Local Pass Through (Direct), to be funded by the Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance. This program furthers the U.S. Department of Justice’s mission by assisting state, local, and tribal efforts to prevent or reduce crime and violence, with a particular focus on gun violence and the
programs and initiatives that target the risk factors that are likely to lead to this kind of violence. The application process is competitive. Approximately $257,759 will be available during the project period, depending upon availability of federal funds. Because federal funds are not always available immediately following the award date, applicants should prepare for this contingency.
