Summary DetailsThe Board strives to provide a meal program that improves nutrition in a respectful manner to our most vulnerable students. Scientific research provides compelling evidence that poor nutrition negatively impacts behavior, school performance and cognitive development in children. Research also shows that well-fed children show less irritability, improved attention span, better memory and achieve higher test scores. In an attempt to remove this inequity within the system, the District has a long history of providing healthy meals for students. The Feeding Futures Fund is intended specifically to help feed children from homes where parents are struggling to provide food for their families for various reasons: Social Assistance recipients, low income earners, families who are experiencing financial hardship due to work shortage, medical reasons and/or other financial challenges.
