Sarasota County is seeking to rehabilitate the Albee Road Bridge No. 170057, in order to extend the life of the bridge to 15 years. Fifteen years is the typical industry standard if maintenance continues to be performed. The project is limited to the bridge structure, approach slabs, repairs to the steel grid deck, fender system, includes performing mechanical, electrical, structural repairs, and temporary traffic control associated with the work both onsite and offsite. No wetlands or waters of the United States will be impacted as part of this restoration process. A public meeting was held on November 6, 2019, at Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Public Library to discuss the proposed bridge repairs and the vehicular and boat traffic maintenance issues. An additional construction informational virtual public meeting for this project was held on January 13, 2021.
