The rifles shall be AR-15 A3 platform rifles with optics as specified and listed below. The rifles shall be AR-15 A3 platform rifles. The rifles shall be .223 caliber, shall have carbine (no longer than)16.5 inch barrel, collapsible stock, flip up rear sight, front sight, flash suppressor with flat top or have a removable handle or approved equal. The rifle should have free floating handguards with picatinny rails. The rifle should come with 3 magazines. The rifle should also come equipped with a single point sling attachment and single point sling. The Missouri City Police Department has reviewed and evaluated different rifle, optic and flashlight manufacturers and has determined that the Colt and Bushmaster rifles, Aimpoint Pro optics and Streamlight ProTac lights are best suited for the City’s needs in terms of quality and performance. The specifications shall not be interpreted as restrictive but rather as a measure of quality and performance against other rifle and optic manufacturers. Bidder’s offering other manufacturer rifles and/or optics as listed above shall provide sufficient evidence that the alternative manufacturer rifles and optics meet or exceed specifications based on performance and quality of the manufactures listed above.
