Project Coordinator - Villages of East and West Burke

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), through its Interagency Village Wastewater Solutions Initiative seeks proposals for an interdisciplinary coordinator to assist the One Burke Village Infrastructure Task Force (task force) in the Town of Burke, Vermont for up to three years in preparing viable wastewater solutions, conducting community outreach and engagement, and serving as a liaison with the Town of Burke’s Selectboard and task force, DEC project managers, and the project consulting engineers.

Villages form the heart of Vermont’s rural communities, but more than 150 villages lack sewer systems, hampering revitalization and limiting options for environmental protection. To overcome this challenge, DEC obtained a Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) grant to help identify cost effective wastewater solutions for the villages of East Burke, West Burke and Wolcott, providing models for other villages throughout Vermont.
