As part of a larger downtown beautification project, the City of Santa Cruz is seeking the services of qualified contractors to paint several types of City-owned site furnishings in its downtown. These include light posts, sign posts, bicycle racks, railings, and kiosks. The City desires to complete this work in early summer 2024.BackgroundThe City of Santa Cruz was incorporated in 1866 and formed its current charter in 1948. It is governed under a Council/Manager form of government. A Mayor and six Council members set policy for the City and a City Manager serves as chief administrator of those policies. The City is located on the coast, 75 miles south of San Francisco on the northern edge of the Monterey Bay. It encompasses 15.8 square miles with cultural and ethnic diversity among its population of 65,000. Santa Cruz is part of the National Marine Sanctuary and is a popular tourist destination owing to its beaches, surf culture, and historical landmarks. The City provides a full
range of municipal services and facilities including a recreational wharf, public golf course, over thirteen hundred acres of open space, full beach services, refuse management, law enforcement, fire protection, and water and wastewater utilities. The City is also host to University of California Santa Cruz, the Santa Cruz Harbor, and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park.In 2022 the City's Downtown Commission adopted a set of standards for City-owned site furnishings in the downtown area. These standards cover both the types and the colors of common site furnishings. In order to realize the standards, the City is seeking to paint existing pieces of infrastructure to follow the adopted color standards.TimelineRelease Project Date:April 17, 2024Pre-Bid Meeting (Mandatory):April 30, 2024, 11:00am Memorial Plaza in front of 1550 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz, CA 95060IFB Questions and Clarification Due Date:May 3, 2024, 5:00pmResponse to bidder(s) IFB Questions and Clarification & Issue Addenda:May 7, 2024, 5:00pmBid Submittal Due Date & Public Bid Opening:May 14, 2024, 11:00am Microsoft Teams https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/join-a-meetingMeeting ID: 290 590 476 48 Passcode: F4ivUW ________________________________________ Dial-in by phone +1 872-242-8054,,810290879# United States, Chicago Phone conference ID: 810 290 879#
