NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS: May 27, 2020 Sealed bids for Contracts 2020, Pine Street Bridge Repairs, Bridge No. N-19-024 (0ME) in the City of Northampton will be accepted by the Department until 2:00 PM on June 10, 2020 . Bids shall be delivered to the following address: Dave Veleta, P.E., City Engineer 42 Carolyn Street Florence, MA 01062 Bid documents will be available electronically after 9:00 AM on May 27, 2020 by registering with Felix Harvey at fharvey@northamptonma.gov . Potential bidders must register in order to be placed on the plan holders list and receive addenda, if any. Bid guaranty is 5% of the total bid amount. Minimum wage rates are set. This is a City funded project. The Department reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality, and to accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the City. The successful
bidder will be required to furnish 100% Payment and Performance Bonds. Scope of Work The work under this contract consists of the rehabilitation of Bridge No. N-19-024, Pine Street over the Mill River, located in Northampton. The simple span bridge superstructure is comprised of rolled steel stringers with a reinforced concrete deck. The bid is structured as two alternate bids: Base Bid includes cleaning, steel reinforcement and painting of three stringers where they attach to the western abutment; and Alternate Bid includes the work described in Base Bid plus cleaning and painting of west end of four additional stringers and installing a new expansion joint with compressed seal at the west end of the bridge. The City will select either the Base Bid or the Alternate Bid for construction after the bids are received. Bidder requirements Each prospective Bidder must be prequalified in accordance with 720 CMR 5.00, "Prequalification of Contractors." Contractors intending to bid on this project must appear on an official contractor bid list from the Prequalification Office or be on a list of Contractors that have been granted a waiver by the Prequalification Committee.
