Attention all contractors currently doing business with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or interested in future NIH contracting opportunities. Please allow as much additional time as possible for all initial and renewal registrations in the Federal Government's System for Award Management (SAM). The pace of Federal contract awards generally increases during July-September annually and many awards must be made before September 30th, 2018. If your SAM registration is not active, you will not be eligible for awards. Background: To be eligible for Federal contract awards, all contractors are required to obtain and maintain active registration in the Federal Government's System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov. Recent changes to the SAM initial and re-registration process necessary to address security concerns are resulting in significant SAM processing delays. Contractors should prepare and submit required registration
documents well ahead of planned or desired initiation/expiration to minimize delays to award eligibility and the overall Government contracting process. As noted in a SAM website alert at https://www.gsa.gov/about-us/organization/federal-acquisition-service/office-of-systems-management/integrated-award-environment-iae/sam-update, additional changes will go into effect on June 11th and June 29th respectively that may alleviate delays. However, contractors should continue to plan far in advance to ensure registration delays are less impactful. Also, you are urged to read the new process changes thoroughly. The announced process change allows for activation of your registration prior to submission of a notarized letter, but failure to comply within 30 days will result in registration deactivation. Please continue to monitor the www.sam.gov website for additional information regarding registration and alerts to process changes.Contact Information: Nancy M.
