Pursuant to the State Purchasing Act (Official Code of Georgia Annotated §§50-5-50 et seq.), this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) is being issued to establish a contract with a qualified supplier who will provide an on-demand bicycle sharing system ("Bike Share System" or "System")to the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia by and on behalf of the University of Georgia (hereinafter, “the State Entity”, “University of Georgia”, “UGA”, or “the University”) as further described in this RFP.
The University of Georgia seeks to develop a user friendly and intuitive Bike Share System through an agreement with a single Vendor. The proposed Bike Share System is to be an extension of UGA’s transportation network and offer a new mobility option for students, faculty, staff and visitors. The System is intended to complement the University’s transportation options by providing affordable access to bicycles that may be checked out from one location and returned to another in a network of designated parking areas. The System is anticipated to be available to Users 24-hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. It is envisioned that providing this service will ease traffic and parking congestion, reduce auto use, and increase transit and walking within the System’s service area.
