The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District (District) is requesting proposals (RFP) from qualified firms for construction of a concrete pedestal approximately 7’ diameter by 30” tall with footing for the placement of a metal sculpture and art piece. Structural Engineers plans are included in this request. The scope of work includes excavating, forming, providing rebar, pouring and striping new, colored concrete pedestal.This is a prevailing wage project.BackgroundThe Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District is located within the Monterey Bay Peninsula along the California Central Coast. Our boundaries include 20,000 detached acres of open space and parkland that encompass an area from the City of Marina to the North, to the community of Big Sur to the South. The District serves a diverse population of residents and visitors.The District is committed to engaging people with nature and enhancing relevance to the community through educational programs, demonstrations, and art installations in our parks. By partnering with local artists, we will assemble unique stories and sensory exhibits for people to explore. In 2018, MPRPD commissioned local artist and award-winning author, Ms. Paola Berthion, to fabricate a sculpture using rebar and other materials collected from the San Clemente Dam removal site. The sculpture and art piece, “ Transformation in Restoration” is being relocated to the newly constructed and recently opened entrance plaza at the Palo Corona Regional Park headquarters and main entrance at the former Rancho Canada Golf Club.
