The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) monitors health –risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability among youth and adults, including: - Behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence - Tobacco use - Alcohol and other drug use - Sexual risk behaviors - Unhealthy dietary behaviors - Physical inactivity - Food Insecurity YRBS also measures the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences

(ACES) developmental assets among youth and student perceptions of bullying. YRBS data will be used to: - Measure progress toward achieving national health objectives and other program and policy indicators - Assess trends in priority health-risk behaviors among middle and high school students - Evaluate the impact of broad school and community interventions at school and district levels - Set and track progress toward meeting school health and health promotion program goals, support modification of school curricula or other programs, student support services, support new policies that promote health and well-being, and seek funding and other support for new initiatives.
