J.M. Kaplan invites nominations of illustrated nonfiction books for Alice Award

The Furthermore program of the J.M. Kaplan Fundsupports the publication of nonfiction books focused on the arts, history, and the natural and built environment. Applications are invited for the Alice Award, through which an award of $25,000 will be given to a richly illustrated book that contributes to its field and demonstrates high production standards. Books selected by the award jury for the shortlist will receive $5,000. The award is intended to buttress the slow reading movement that recognizes and cherishes the lasting values of the well-made illustrated book and the special sense of intimacy it affords. Fields considered include the fine arts and the natural and built environments, and related public issues.Organizations interested in nominating a book for consideration must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have acted as a partner in the book’s production.
