NOAA operates a fleet of research ships to safely facilitate its Earth observations. These ships must be operated in accordance with their Trim and Stability (T&S) Booklets that define their maximum loads to meet Federal stability criteria. Software that reflects the calculations and limits defined in these T&S Booklets assists the ships’ officer’s control of solid and fluid loads to safely accomplish their missions.
