INDUSTRY DAY FEDBID ANNOUNCEMENT The Department of Veterans Affairs Revenue Operations Consolidated Patient Account Center [CPAC] intends to host an Industry Day on Tuesday, 5/21/2024. The purpose of Industry Day is to allow interested businesses to exchange their capabilities in healthcare revenue cycle management services and technologies. Areas of interest include patient accounts management [i.e., account follow-up, denials management, payment validation] and revenue cycle processes such as obtaining pre-certification/authorization from commercial health insurance and automation of scanning/importing medical records. The VA is interested in leveraging the use of AI, machine learning and/or robotic process automation to improve business processes, maximize billing output, generating responses to medical necessity denials, increase collections and/or reduce denial rates. The VA is interested in the integration of bolt-on applications to the Oracle/Cerner Millennium electronic health
record [EHR], targeted at performing key revenue cycle functions, such as managing a national Chargemaster with geographically adjusted prices for each VA location, computer-assisted coding [CAC], revenue integrity, insurance eligibility verification, and analytics. The VA is also interested in pursuing bolt-on functionality related to Medicaid eligibility screening, patient outreach, and patient liability services. Lastly, the VA is interested in solutions to link and interface community care referrals, authorization, payment systems and technology to back-end revenue billing systems/software. Capabilities in providing the above functionality, as well as the adoption of emergent/innovative revenue cycle technologies should be demonstrated. All applications to attend Industry Day will be reviewed to ensure the below minimum experience requirements are met. The ten [10] vendors deemed to have the most relevant experience will be selected to attend. Experience must include: medical and pharmacy billing in an EHR system, insurance eligibility and capture, denials prediction/automation, non-MCCF [Tricare cost sharing OHI out-of-pocket calculators], computer-assisted coding for inpatient and outpatient claims, health insurance payment methodologies, proven experience in dealing with a high volume of claims, knowledge of national and regional payer requirements, knowledge and experience with EHR interfaces, and knowledge of VHA billing and collection guidelines, laws and directives. The company should be able to provide payer agreement/contract management software solutions and demonstrate functionality in managing a contract/agreement in various stages of review, approval, and final signature. The company must have five [5] plus years of RECENT experience in the above. Companies are asked to register by completing and returning the vendor registration posted with this announcement via email by Friday, 4/01/2024 to Kevin.Johnson580fa@va.gov and Rhonda.Ammons@va.gov. Ten [10] registered companies will be selected to present their capabilities to VHA personnel in breakout sessions limited to fifteen [15] minutes followed by fifteen [15] minutes of questions from VHA staff.
