PROJECT NARRATIVE: UPMC Mercy Hospital intends to replace a portion of the existing roof and existing AHU units 2, 11, 15 & 22 because they are no longer functioning efficiently enough to meet current FGI Guidelines requirements. The construction will include demolition, architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical work. AHUs 2 & 11 are located in interior Mechanical Rooms and AHUs 15 & 22 are rooftop units. All four AHUs and an out of service cooling tower will be removed as part of the demolition work along with the roofing

under and around AHU 15 and the cooling tower. The four AHUs will be replaced with two larger AHUs that are rooftop mounted and share a common service corridor. The new AHUs will then be connected to the existing ductwork from the former AHUs to serve patient and support areas. After the new AHUs are set on their roof curbs, the new rubber roofing will be installed and flashed to the curb and parapet walls.
