Notice is hereby given that the County of Santa Clara (County) has determined that all Design Build Contractor (DBC) and their Architectural/Engineering team members on the new Main Jail South (Project) must be prequalified prior to submitting a bid on the Project . The County is utilizing a Best Value Design-Build procurement. Please referred to RFP-FAF-FY20-0305 for project details. From the pre-qualified firms, a shortlist of a minimum of three firms and a maximum of four firms will be determined based on pre-qualification submittals and/or follow-on interviews. Interviews shall be at the discretion of the County of Santa Clara. In the event interviews are conducted, all pre-qualified firms will be provided the opportunity.
It is anticipated that a Project Labor Agreement (PCC 22164) will be a
part of the Design Build Contract.
Project Description The proposed Project is located on North San Pedro Street in San Jose, California. The Project constructs a new 200,000+ square-foot correctional facility, including inmate housing, program spaces, treatment spaces, and support spaces. The new facility will be located adjacent to, and with access connection to, the existing jail facilities. The new facility will be constructed on existing County-owned land adjacent to existing correctional facilities that will remain operational during the design and construction of the new jail. Interface with existing utilities and access will be required. The new facility will be a high-rise building within an anticipated 162-foot height limit.
The County anticipates requesting for proposals this Project in the Summer of 2020. See RFP-FAF-FY20-0305.
It is anticipated that a Project Labor Agreement (Public Contract Code section 22164) will be a part of the design-build contract.
