Scope of Work The Town of Fort Myers Beach Charter provides: ARTICLE VIII. - TOWN ATTORNEY Sec. 8.01. – [Appointed by town council; duties; removal procedure.] There shall be a town attorney appointed by the council, who may represent the town in all legal proceedings and shall perform all other duties assigned by the council.
Town of Fort Myers Beach seeks qualified law firms or

individuals to serve as the contracted Town Attorney and provide other legal services encompassing the traditional scope of work including legal representation, opinions, consultation on related town legal matters and coordination with any special attorney.
Town Attorney will provide general legal services to the Town Council, the Town Manager, and other elected officials and appointed officers of the Town; provide written opinions, draft ordinances and ordinance amendments and provide legal assistance to all Town departments in their conduct of Town business. Attendance at a variety of meetings may be required, including Town Councils’ meetings and Local Planning Agency meetings and Magistrate Hearings, as specified.
Preference will be given to those submittals demonstrating extensive successful experience in Florida municipal and land use law. The successful applicant(s) shall possess sufficient resources to ensure that the demands for the Town’s legal needs will be met on a timely basis. This relationship will be on a contractual basis, or in the case of an individual may be a contractual in house position.
