INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: CANON SERVICE CONTRACT THIS IS NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE CANON MEDICAL SYSTEMS USA, INC. FOR THE CANON SERVICE CONTRACT INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE FOR PURCHASE REQUISITION: 523-22-1-7853-0006: This is not a request for competitive proposals. This is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available and telephone requests will not be honored. The Department of Veterans Affairs VA Medical Center intends to award a six-month, Firm Fixed Price, Sole Source contract for CANON MEDICAL SYSTEMS USA, INC. CANON is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the affiliated Medical Equipment throughout the VISN 1 New England Healthcare System. Because CANON MEDICAL SYSTEMS USA, INC. is the only vendor that can provide full-service support and coverage needed of its Canon (formerly known as Toshiba) Medical Equipment throughout the VISN1 New England Healthcare System, the VISN is seeking to establish a service contract with Canon Medical Systems. The authority for applying the Simplified Procedures for Commercial Items of FAR 13.5 is 41 U.S.C. 1901. This statute is implemented by for restricting competition on this procurement via FAR 13.106-1(b)(2). The intent is to procure these services on a sole source basis.
