Description
Scope of Services
The City of Pasadena's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department seeks contractor instructors for classes that enhance the recreational, fitness, enrichment and social offerings to the community. Experience, training and/or education must clearly demonstrate instructor’s competence as a professional with the required knowledge and skills associated with successfully executing contract classes.
+ 2. Requirements
Contract instructors shall be 18 years or older, must provide copies of any certification and/or license if class requires, must complete and pass a background check (LiveScan) administered by a non-city entity. Any related fees are paid directly by the Contract Instructor. Please discuss the requirements with City staff prior to starting this process.
Contractor/provider must demonstrate certifications required or recommended for classes offered such as physical conditioning programs, training; strength training for adults, seniors and youth; flexibility training and nutrition. Required certifications depend on the type of program taught and are determined by the Department. Current AED/CPR/First Aid certifications are also strongly encouraged.
Contractors/providers must be self-starters with proven developmental abilities. Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills required. While on City premises, the contractor/provider shall comply with the rules, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of personnel and the operation of the facility.
Successful proposers are required to attend the first class meeting of all classes advertised in the City recreation guide regardless of the number of actual number of participants enrolled.

Ballet (Y) - Fundamentals of ballet movement, placement and alignment; basic ballet positions, jumps, turns, dances, and ballet vocabulary.
Ballroom (A,S) - Introduction to formal social dancing in couples, such as the waltz, tango rumba, cha-cha, and other dances.
Cultural Dances (Y) - Basic foundation of dance styles around the world; explore geography and traditions of different cultures from around the world.
Dance Fitness (A,S,Y) - Full body workout focusing on dance based cardio and strength training.
Dance Fundamentals (Y) - Basic rhythm of dance, style, and movement.
Folklorico (A,S,Y) - Traditional Mexican heritage dance, choreography, dance expression.
Hip Hop (Y) - Choreography, movement, music, dance trends.
Interpretive (Y) - Basic introduction to the interpretive modern styles, music, rhythm, and movement.
Jazz (Y) - Basic introduction to the jazz styles, music, rhythm, and movement.
Line Dance (A,S) - Basic introduction to the choreographed dance with repeated sequence of steps styles, music, rhythm, and movement.
Lyrical (Y) - Basic introduction to the lyrical styles, music, rhythm, and movement.
Tap (Y) - Basic introduction to the tap styles, music, rhythm, and movement.
