Hallowell - Installation of Heat Pumps Start Date: February 20, 2024 End Date: April 01, 2024 Type: Requests for Proposals (RFP) Phone: 430-4403 Email: citymanager@hallowellmaine.org For Installation of Heat Pumps in Hallowell City Hall Auditorium February 14, 2024 The City of Hallowell, Maine invites proposals for heat pumps to be installed in our City Hall auditorium at One Winthrop Street in Hallowell. These heat pumps will augment existing natural gas steam radiator heat as well as be the sole source for air conditioning. Our City Hall brick structure was built in 1898 so the auditorium has little insulation in the ceiling, none in the walls, drafty single pane windows and other challenges typical of old buildings. The auditorium is a very large room roughly 34 feet wide by 50 feet long with 20 feet tall ceilings. Heat pumps have already been installed in the basement and first floor levels of City Hall. We

estimate a heat loss calculation of 78,000 BTU’s for the auditorium, but applicants should visit our city hall and do their own calculations before submitting a proposal. We estimate two outdoor heat pump units and four indoor wall units may be needed. Proposals should show all labor and materials including equipment brands and BTU capacities, line set, line hide, heat pump synchronization controllers, thermostats, condensate drainage, communication wire, electrical work, pads, stands, crushed stone, disconnects, manufacturer’s warranty specs and any other items you propose. City Manager Gary Lamb will serve as the primary contact for all communications for this project.
