The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Trustees of Boston University, 85 E. Newton St M-921, Boston, MA 02118-2340 ) to provide a computerized coding system that is used in collection and analysis of drug data in epidemiological studies developed and maintained by the Slone Epidemiology Center (SEC) of Boston University. It appears there are no other companies that can offer services of Trustees of Boston University’s as all products are manufactured by their company. No other company is able to provide information as Trustees of Boston University, owns the copyright, developed and maintains the Slone Drug Dictionary. Any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the government, which is not expected to be recovered through competition. This contract action is for a service agreement in which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within Two (2) days of the issuance of this notice, in accordance with FAR 5.203(1), will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
