EV3295 RFP Infrastructure Plan for Fleet Electrification (IPFE) Type: RFP Status: Open Open Date: Feb 5th 2024, 5:00 PM CST Questions Due Date: Feb 16th 2024, 5:00 PM CST Close Date: Mar 11th 2024, 5:00 PM CDT Days Left: 7 Project Description:The City of Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a qualified consulting firm for the purpose of providing a detailed roadmap for supporting the conversion of the City fleet to zero emissions vehicles. Shifting the City fleet to electric vehicles (EV) will help meet sustainability goals and, potentially, reduce costs. Fleet electrification will reduce the City’s carbon footprint, as the vehicle fleet is approximately 11% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions relative to City operations. Over the coming decade the City anticipates moving the entire City fleet to electric, provided suitable electric vehicles are available. To achieve this goal,

sufficient charging infrastructure is critical to maintain the level of use needed for the City vehicles. While the expectation is that all fleet vehicles would be able to move to electric, there may be a need for some vehicles to transition to other zero or low carbon alternatives, such as hydrogen. If this is the case, fueling for such vehicles would take place at City fueling stations. The expectation is that EV charging would take place primarily at City facilities as well. In addition to the charging infrastructure needed for City fleet vehicles, there is and will continue to be a need for EV chargers for City staff’s private vehicles and/or the public at City facilities. The staff and public charging location, timing, and needs will be different from those of the current City fleet, though there may be opportunities to share charging infrastructure to reduce installation and maintenance costs.
