THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING AND INSTALLING ALL ITEMS WITHIN THIS NARRATIVE, THE DRAWINGS, AND PROJECT MANUAL UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE.
Contractor shall remove all roofing materials down to the wood deck on the shelter and the adjacent two (2) pit latrines. The contractor shall replace any T&G roof decking that is damaged or deteriorating with matching western red cedar T&G roof decking, match all dimensions. Contractor shall then install self-adhered Grace Water and Ice Shield (or State of Iowa Approved Equivalent) over entire roof, install new 16oz copper chimney flashing, new dark brown drip edge, and CertainTeed Landmark Premium shingles, color to be Weathered-wood (or State of Iowa Approved Equivalent).
Contractor shall power wash all wood members on the shelter and pits, and repair any deteriorated wood purlins and structural members with epoxy consolidation material. Remove all punky and rotten wood, and then install molding epoxy to match original shape. Contractor shall then stain all beams, purlins, columns, and trusses with two (2) coats of TWP 103 – dark oak (or State of Iowa Approved Equivalent). Wood roof deck shall receive two (2) coats of UV stabilized clear satin polyurethane. Protect all surfaces to avoid spills and over spray.
Contractor shall thoroughly wash all masonry surfaces with non-ionic detergent, natural bristle brushes, and low pressure wash.
Contractor shall then repoint the chimney of the shelter, matching new mortar as best possible to existing. Contractor shall then place a new limestone cap on the chimney as shown in the drawings.
